Basketball Coaching Course Nov.07
Australian NCAS Level 1 Coaching Course well received!
In November 2007, the Singapore Basketball community had the privilege of having John Triscari, the current Western Australian Women’s National Wheelchair Basketball League coach fly in from Perth to conduct a Basketball Australia NCAS Level 1 Coaching Course.
It was a great opportunity for coaches, parents, teachers and young student leaders involved in school basketball teams to upgrade their knowledge and competencies of the modern game. Of particular benefit was John's enthusiastic hands-on approach which saw all of the 30 odd participants actively involved as the instructor went through the course syllabus with lightening speed. Participants were so impressed that most requested a follow up course, and APSM will set dates for 2008 courses soonest. The organizer would like to express their sincere thanks for the energy and enthusiasm shown by all participants. If you are interested in coaching course please contact us.
Basketball Coaching Course May.05
APSM with support from I.S.I.B.L. bought Murray Tresedar (Australian Paralympic Coach) to Singapore for NCAS Level 1 Coaching Course.
In May 2005, the Singapore Basketball community had the privilege of having the current Australian Para Olympic Coach fly in to conduct a Basketball Australia NCAS Level 1 Coaching Course. Many coaches from the I.S.I.B.L. and numerous Physical Education teachers from several of the International Schools in Singapore were in attendance.
There were two courses running due to the over whelming demand and interest, and representatives from schools including the Australian International School, Overseas Family School, Tanglin Trust School and United World College of South East Asia were sent to attend in order to better their knowledge of teaching basketball to their students and teams.
The first session required participants to sit through some videos, however, by the time it came to the practical side of the course participants were asked to demonstrate and perform drills and skills relevant to coaching younger students. All the participants found the course most informative and beneficial, and expressed an interest to attend future courses.
